Graphic Design Degree in Sheffield

in Graphic Design, Sheffield

Thinking about a Graphic Design Degree in Sheffield?

Here we have an insight into what you can expect from our intern Emily.

“Our city is a place full of opportunity for young designers and the year I have spent studying for a Graphic Design Degree in Sheffield has presented me with numerous chances to get involved in many exciting and challenging events that have helped me to grow, not only as a designer but also in confidence too.

Completing a Graphic Design Degree is a challenging but highly rewarding journey and Sheffield is an excellent place to complete it.

My first year of study was completed at UAL in London, and whilst the University had excellent facilities and tutors, surprisingly the city itself seemed to lack inspiration. Only after returning back to Sheffield did I realise that I had everything I needed to gain valuable experiences and an excellent education in design right here in my hometown.

The best part about studying in Sheffield is that there is always something happening in the City that welcomes the participation of students, and Sheffield Hallam University are keen to encourage their students to get involved and put their studies into context out in the real world. The experience and knowledge that can be gained from getting involved in the opportunities offered is invaluable and cannot be obtained from study alone.

Whilst studying at Sheffield Hallam University you are inundated with emails containing application forms for new exhibitions, pop-up shops, visits and trips, and work placement opportunities almost on a daily basis.

The extent of opportunities that I have been able to be a part of since returning to Sheffield ranges from taking part in pop-up shops in the Winter Gardens, to designing Hendersons Relish 2015 Christmas Card, and I am now completing a 15-month work placement with Volta Creative.

The staff at Hallam University offer every chance they can for their students to get involved. So if you are thinking about applying for a Graphic Design Degree in Sheffield I would recommend you apply to Hallam and take every opportunity offered. Trust me, you wont regret it.”
